Abi's a keeper for England squad
A massive well done to football superstar Abi Wallace, who represented England U15s over the Easter holidays. In a tough first game, the England squad drew 2-2 and unfortunately lost in the penalty shoot out. However, they soon bounced back, winning the second match 2-0. In another penalty shoot-out, Abi lead the team to success and saved 2 penalties, leading to a 5-3 win.
Joining Burlington Jackdaws at age 5, Abi was a natural on the pitch. Initially playing as a centre back, she found herself in goal after 'none of the lads wanted to go in nets'. Since then her football career has gone from strength to strength and after signing for York City U16s (a year above her age group) she was scouted for the England squad.
Training three times a week, Abi drives through to York with her dad to join her teammates. News of the England call up came via an email and since then, she has been desperate to get on the pitch and put the number 1 shirt on. Following in the footsteps of her Man City idol, Karen Bardsley, Abi ensured that England was successful and had a cracking game.
Well done, Abi! We are so proud of all your hard work and dedication.
