Bridlington School Open Day

On Thursday 13th October Bridlington School opened its doors to prospective students and parents to find out about the education on offer and help them make the very important decision about which secondary school to choose

As in previous years there was an amazing turn out with an estimated 400 prospective students attending and taking part in a wide range of different activities to give a flavour of learning at the school. These included writing spooky stories, rock climbing; trampolining; maths interactive challenges; African drumming; drama tasters; biscuit decorating; creating controlled explosions in Science, visiting the school’s Combine Cadet Force and many more

Headteacher, Sarah Pashley, said ‘We were overwhelmed by the number of people taking an interest in the school this year. Yet again we had to open up the school field for parking, because the car park was full! We received lots of positive comments from our visitors about our friendly, knowledgeable staff and our helpful, polite and enthusiastic students

It was also great that our Open Evening fell on the same day that the GCSE league tables were published. This meant we could share the fact that Bridlington School has topped the league tables in Hull and the East Riding AND come an impressive 18th out of over 6000 schools in the whole country for the new Progress 8 performance measure. Our staff and students are so proud of our school and its many achievements. It was lovely to be able to celebrate this latest amazing success with so many new people

Choosing the right secondary school is a very important decision. I hope that our visitors took away the message that, as well as delivering excellent examination results, Bridlington School also offers students a really exciting and diverse range of extra-curricular activities to support them to develop into successful, independent, responsible and creative young people who are able to make a valuable contribution to society
