Today we have received confirmation that a member of Year 9 has tested positive for COVID-19.
100% of Year 9 are now self-isolating.
This is a different case to the Year 9 case on Tuesday.
The student was last in school on Friday 6th November showing no symptoms. Symptoms started on Saturday.
A student is a direct contact if they have been in the same class or in the same social group at break or lunch time on Thursday and Friday, 48 hours before the onset of symptoms on Saturday.
Self-isolation for a direct contact is always 14 days with day 1 being counted from when the person was last in contact in school.
The time it takes for us to be informed of the case changes depending on how long the test results take to come back. We are seeing test results come back as fast as 11 hours if the test was taken at a test centre and up to 4 days for a postal test. We always ask for the NHS positive result as this informs us of the dates we work from.
100% of Year 9 are now self-isolating. Some Year 9 come out of isolation at midnight on Friday 20th November and some Year 9 come out of self-isolation at midnight on Monday 23rd November. All Year 9 will be on home learning and return to lessons in school as a whole year group on Tuesday 24th November.
The safety of students and staff is of highest importance. The whole school is deep cleaned every night.
Parents / carers of students in Year 9 have been informed. Letter can be seen here.
