Creative Media Trip
The Year 9 Creative & Media Diploma students enjoyed a fun and educational day out to two fascinating Yorkshire venues; The Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Bretton and The Hepworth in Wakefield.
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is 500 acres of open countryside showcasing architectural greatness in the form of statues and other sculptures. Their current display of Jean Miró sculptures is the first major UK exhibition of its kind.
The Hepworth Wakefield is the largest purpose build exhibition space outside of London. It was designed in homage to artist, designer and architect Barbara Hepworth and displays rare and contemporary pieces of art and cinema from a variety of artists and exhibitionists.
Students took along digital cameras and Dictaphones to record their experiences and opinions which they then used as part of their portfolio work for the course back in school the next day. They all found the trip highly beneficial and described the work they saw as ‘beautiful’, ‘amazing’ and ‘inspiring’.
