East Riding Athletics Trials

East Riding Athletics Trials

Back in May, a team of athletes from Bridlington School attended the East Riding County Athletics Trials at Costello Stadium in Hull. They included, from Year 8 – Josh Walkington (100M, High Jump, Long Jump), Mollie Howarth (High Jump), Sophie Bonnett (Long Jump, High Jump, 100M), Lydia Rands (Shot-Putt), and from Year 10 – Jacob Langton (Discus) and Jak Sanderson (Shot-Putt). All of the athletes tried their best against students from all the other East Riding Schools, to compete for a place in the East Riding Team. Josh did amazing to come in the top 3 in all of his events, and qualify for the ER Team, as did Mollie who jumped a new competition best of 1.37m. Sophie did really well to reach a new Personal Best in the Long Jump which nearly broke the 4m mark, but unfortunately didn’t make the ER Team this time, and although Lydia tried her best in the Shot-Putt, she also missed out on qualifying. From Year 10, Jacob Langton came 3rd in the Discus throw, with a Personal Best of over 25m and qualified for the ER Team. Jak Sanderson also threw well, to take 4th place in the Shot-Putt, but he didn’t manage to qualify this time. Well done to all of them, keep training!

L-R; Jak Sanderson, Jacob Langton, Josh Walkington, Mollie Howarth, Sophie Bonnett, Lydia Rands.
