GCSE Results Summer 2016
We expected our GCSE results to be fantastic this year, but our students have completely surpassed even our high expectations. 100% of them achieved 5 A* to G grades and 68% achieved A* to C grades in both English and Maths. This is despite a dip in GCSE results across England. These are outstanding GCSE results and the school’s best ever. Our performance in the new Ofsted progress measure - Progress 8 - was fantastic. We achieved a score of 0.97 which means that Bridlington School students achieved a whole grade higher than students in rest of the country with the same starting points. Bridlington School’s Progress 8 score is by far the best score of all secondary schools in Hull and the East Riding, including the outstanding schools. Just like our Olympic Team GB, Team Brid. School has smashed all its targets. Well done Year 11! We can now look forward to winning the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Progress Award for the fourth year in a row. More importantly, our students can look forward to very positive futures.
Just like Olympic success, examination success doesn’t come easy. It involves a huge amount of hard work and effort on the part of students and staff. We have very high expectations of all our students at Bridlington School. We push them very hard to be the best they can be. They have responded brilliantly to this pressure and pulled out all the stops to ensure they fulfilled their potential in their exams. I am so pleased for them that their hard work has paid off. They deserve this success. I am also very grateful to our staff who have been determined to ensure that all our students do really well in all their subjects. I am very privileged to lead such a dedicated and talented staff team. In addition, I would like to thank our parents/carers for their fantastic support which has helped their sons and daughters to achieve such brilliant results.
