It's Great to be Good
We are all celebrating at Bridlington School after our recent Inspection when Ofsted rated us as 'good' for overall effectiveness, including ‘good’ ratings in all four inspection areas: teaching; achievement; behaviour and safety; leadership.
Inspectors found that students are enthusiastic and have a wealth of opportunities to contribute to school life. The rate of progress for all groups of students is good. Lessons are well structured with a sharp focus on ensuring that students understand how they can reach their challenging targets.
The report goes on to praise the resolute and dynamic approach of the staff in their drive to improve the school, coupled with the close relationship of the Governing Body who are rigorous at challenging and supporting the school to achieve success.
The Sixth Form is also judged ‘good’. The exciting Shores consortium partnership with Headlands School is praised for opening up new opportunities for students to study a wide range of courses and achieve success.
We are thrilled that Ofsted recognise that we are a good school. This achievement is testament to the hard work and determination of all our staff, students and parents/carers. As inspectors noted, we have a ‘tenacious’ drive to improve standards and raise achievement and it is paying off. We are particularly proud of our students who put in so much effort to achieve and, in many cases, exceed their targets.
This is a significant result in the context of the very high standards now expected in the new Ofsted inspection framework. It means that Bridlington School is now amongst the top schools in the East Riding. Parents living in our catchment area can feel confident that their children will access a good standard of education at their local secondary school. This is great for them and great for Bridlington.
Our aim is to become an outstanding school. This report means we're a step closer to where we want to be. Watch this space!
