Law Trip

Y12 BTEC Law Hull Crown Court Trip 15/10/14

For the last 3 years the VI Form at Bridlington School has run a BTEC Law course. It has proved a popular option. This year we have 16 students tackling the weighty issues of Law. BTEC is very much about vocational learning so this year we have been building our relationship with the court service. Court Usher Steve Jones gave us an excellent tour of the court, including the opportunity to put their teacher, Mr Horobin, on trial for a case involving the theft of rubbers! Fortunately he was found “not guilty”. Although this part of the trip was relaxed and fun it served the very serious purpose of giving the students a hands on view of a real court. After that, things became very serious indeed when the 16/17 year old students went in to Court 1 to hear bail applications and then see a real jury in action. This sort of experience cannot be replicated in the classroom.
