Netball Match Reports

Year 7 & 8 Netball teams victorious over local rivals.

Year 8

With their regular goalkeeper missing due to illness a reshuffle in defence was needed, which saw Leah Freeman head the third alongside stand-in GD, Ava Smales. With a strong offensive, Zoe Gummerson scored the only goal of the first quarter giving Brid a slim lead. The girls enjoyed long spells of possession in the second and third quarter and with a further three goals scored, Headlands had no comeback, making the score 4 – 0. The final quarter saw Bridlington attacking with more intent and another three goals meant the game was wrapped up. A slip of focus saw Headlands pull one back, but the score finished a convincing 7 – 1 to Bridlington.

Team: Jess Pye, Zoe Gummerson, Ava Smales Leah Freeman, Cerys Maltby, Lille Smelt, Chloe Cocking and Corah Reece.

Year 7: A new team with a new result! The Year 7 squad worked hard to defeat their rivals in a superb performance leading them to a 9-0 victory! With strong defending preventing headlands from having a shot on goal and excellent link play from Abi, Gem and Kara to get the ball into our shooting circle, there was no doubt that Leah and Lily would score. With the girls scoring every quarter it was clear we would finish the game triumphant in victory. It was a fantastic performance from the girls considering they had not played together before!

Team: Milita Valkauskaite, Amelia Lee, Lily Burke, Abi Dean (C), Leah O’Brien, Gem Symonds, Demi Sweeney, Kara Teggart, Jessica Richardson.
