Ski team slalom to second place

On Monday 3rd  June, Year 8 students Jack Shephard, Jess Pye and Cerys Maltby represented Bridlington School and travelled to Manchester to compete in the ‘British Schools Indoor Ski Racing Championships’ at the Chill Factor indoor Ski slope. They competed against another 105 Senior boys and girls from schools as far as Scotland, Wales & the South coast of England.

The format was 2 runs down a slalom full gate course with the fastest run counting. Bridlington School entered as a Mixed senior team and they finished 2nd overall (one point behind the team that came 1st) which is a brilliant achievement for their first ever school indoor event.

Jack was also awarded a podium place for finishing 3rd fastest in his age group out of 28 other U14’s.

They are now looking forward to the ESSKIA (English Schools Ski Association) area qualifiers on the dry slope in Sunderland taking place on Sunday 15th September 2019 and The National Indoor Open Championships in Hemel Hampstead on Monday 30th September 2019.

Well done to the team! The team is looking for local sponsors to help with entry fees and travel costs. Anyone who can help should contact Mrs Tracie Shephard (Team Manager) on 07812111469.
