We are so PROUD of their Year 11 students who have achieved fantastic GCSE results
We are so very proud of our Year 11 students who have demonstrated such outstanding resilience and tenacity throughout these challenging and unsettled times.
All our Year 11 students have worked exceptionally hard throughout KS4 in order to prepare for their GCSE exams in Year 11. We have watched them develop and mature into such fantastic young adults over the past 5 years. Not only have they developed academically but they have also developed personally into well-rounded individuals. Having worked so hard for so many years preparing for their GCSE exams and then to have this taken away from them is such a devastating thing to happen to a Year 11 student. We sympathise with our students and are so sorry this is how their KS4 education has come to an end.
Although very disappointed to lose their opportunity to sit exams our students have shown such a high level of maturity and resilience, as well as developing new ways of communicating and working which will serve them well as they go out into the world. They have focused on their new found skills of determination, flexibility, tenacity and perseverance, and take these skills into their next chapter of life and education.
All our students are moving forward into a range of post 16 pathways. Many of our students are returning to study with us at Bridlington Sixth Form, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming them back. Others are moving on to study a wide range of specialist courses at local colleges, these include, East Riding College, Scarborough TEC, Bishop Burton and Hull College. We wish them all the very best of luck and look forward to hearing about all their future successes.
We are delighted today to be telephoning all our students to congratulate them on their fantastic achievements with 75% of all grades achieved being grades 4-9 (an old-fashioned grade C and above) and 24% of all grades achieved being grades 7-9.
Kate Parker-Randall (headteacher) said “I want to tell all our Year 11s how proud all of us at Bridlington School are of their incredible achievements in the face of such adversity. I and my staff could not be prouder of them. The resilience they have shown and the mature way in which they have overcome the loss of what are rights of passage for young people has been outstanding. For example. it has been such a pleasure to watch their exceptional ability to pull together, support one another on the schools Year 11 Leavers Facebook page. Their relentless focus on moving forwards and taking positive steps towards their futures has been inspirational. I am delighted that so many students will be returning to Bridlington Sixth Form in September and am very excited to follow all their successes in the future and wish them well as they embark on this next exciting stage whatever it may be.”
We are accepting students into our Sixth Form based on the Centre Assessed Grades. Should any students who has achieved the entry criteria but not yet applied wish to do so then please do contact Simon Pick – Head of Sixth Form on 07850900440 or email on PickS@bridlingtonschool.org.uk
