Year 9 Brilliant Minds
Congratulations to eleven more able Y9 students from Bridlington School who have successfully completed The Brilliant Minds Scholars Programme which supports students in developing the knowledge, skills and ambition to secure places at universities or to progress in their chosen careers.
Over a twelve week period, the students worked with George Stamets, a PhD student from Leeds University to each write a 2000 word university style dissertation on the extremely challenging topic of Free Will. They developed their analytical, critical thinking, time management and problem solving skills during tutorials and all rose to the challenge superbly with two students, Isobel Waldie and Matthew Potts, being awarded equivalent to First Class marks.
They then attended a graduation ceremony at Leeds University where they sampled university life and met other schools who had completed the Programme.
Well done to Sophie Abbott, Sally Burdon, Beth Craggs, Billy Clarke, Nathan Hammond. Lee Hayden, Abbi Jones, Matthew Potts, Charlie Slater, Riley Stromberg and Isobel Waldie-you should all be extremely proud of your achievement!
