If you are a further education or independent training provider, please see our policy on how to obtain access.
At Bridlington School, we want our students to make informed choices based on knowledge of all the options open to them. To facilitate this, we encourage encounters with a variety of further education and independent training providers. We want our students to have a plan A, plan B and plan C for whatever transition point they leave us. In line with the PAL2023 guidance set out in Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022 we want our students to have at least the following encounters:
Two encounters for pupils during the ‘first key phase’ (year 8 or 9) that are mandatory for all pupils to attend, to take place any time during year 8 or between 1 September and 28 February during year 9.
Two encounters for pupils during the ‘second key phase’ (year 10 or 11) that are mandatory for all pupils to attend, to take place any time during year 10 or between 1 September and 28 February during year 11.
Two encounters for pupils during the ‘third key phase’ (year 12 or 13) that are mandatory for the school to put on but optional for pupils to attend, to take place any time during year 12 or between 1 September and 28 February during year 13.
We can also accommodate small groups working with more specialist and technical providers where we make the joint decision this may be more appropriate.
In line with the guidance will work together with providers to ensure any encounter provides information to pupils that, as a minimum, includes:
information about the provider and the approved technical education qualifications or apprenticeships that the provider offers,
information about the careers to which those technical education qualifications or apprenticeships might lead, a description of what learning or training with the provider is like,
responses to questions from the pupils about the provider or approved technical education qualifications and apprenticeships.
Although we can be flexible in working with providers, ideally we would like these encounters to take place in the Autumn or Spring term when students need the information to make important decisions about their future pathways. In line with the guidance encounters with year 11 and 13 cannot take place after 28 February.
