RAF camp
Cadets from our CCF (RAF) section have been on Summer Camp at RAF Coningsby/RAF Cranwell. They have had some amazing experiences, which have included watching the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane) land and meeting a pilot and ground crew. They have also visited Newark Air Museum, where they saw a wide range of aircraft and also visited 29 Squadron, where they had a private tour of a Eurofighter Typhoon, which was very interesting. The cadets have also visited 3 Squadron, where they saw close up all of the armaments that can be used on the Typhoon aircraft and had a great visit to the Small Arms section, where they were able to handle different weapons, ranging from a Glock pistol to an L98/A3 and AK47 assault rifle. At the end of the week, they completed a training session on the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT), before completing a live firing exercise on the 25metre range.
