Bridlington School offers a rich and varied curriculum to provide students with a wealth of opportunities to succeed. Learning is tailored to their individual abilities and needs so that every student can fulfil their potential.
Academic success is exceptionally important to us. Students are set ambitious targets in all subjects and monitored very closely to ensure they are on track to achieve them. Regular progress checks take place - half-termly for Years 7 and 8 and weekly for Years 9, 10, 11,12 and 13. Students at risk of underachievement are identified quickly and effective intervention is put in place to ensure they get back on track.
As well as striving for academic excellence, developing outstanding sportsmen and women is paramount. Students have access to a whole range of sporting and physical activities, including Fitness, Golf, Dance, Volleyball, Sailing, Rock Climbing and Trampolining. We have fantastic sports facilities, including an Astro Centre and state of the art climbing wall. There are lots of opportunities for students to participate in sports activities and represent the school, county and country in their chosen sport.
Developing creativity is another key aim of the school. Our students benefit greatly from the experiences offered through the Performing and Creative Arts. Our extra-curricular programme enables students to participate in drama and musical theatre productions, play a musical instrument and become members of the school’s orchestra and choirs. Students are also encouraged to form their own bands and have opportunities to perform in front of their peers and the wider community.
We believe passionately in using technology in all lessons and use iPads and iPods, visualisers and green screen technology to support students with their learning. We have a rapidly developing VLE which students use to communicate with staff from home, complete homework on and support their independent study.
