Year 6 Transition

We are delighted to welcome all our new students this September and look forward to them becoming part of our school community.

Welcome to Bridlington School

At Bridlington School, we know that starting secondary school is exciting even if you feel a little nervous. We are committed to making this transition an enjoyable positive and memorable experience for every student.

To help students feel confident and settled, our transition team visits local primary schools, and we organise transition days where Year 6 students can experience a typical secondary school timetable. We also hold information evenings for parents/carers and offer additional visits if needed.

New Year 7 students are welcomed into school before the rest of the school return in September to help them settle in and feel comfortable in their new environment. Our goal is to ensure every student has a supportive and positive start to secondary school.

Meet the Transition Team

Welcome message from Miss Alex Bell – Director of Key Stage 3 and Transition Lead

My name is Miss Bell, and along with our Year 7 pastoral team and form tutors, I am committed to helping your child feel happy, supported and confident as they start their journey at Bridlington School.

Starting secondary school is an exciting new chapter and a chance to make new friends, try new opportunities and grow as part of our school community. Form tutors help students settle in, build friendships and feel supported from their very first day.

We encourage all students to get involved in clubs, activities and school events while developing independence, confidence and resilience. Our pastoral team is always here to support and guide students whenever needed.

I look forward to meeting you during our transition activities in the coming months.

Year 5/6 Open Events

Choosing the right secondary school is an important decision. Our Open Events give you the chance to learn more about our school and help you make an informed choice.

You can meet our leadership team, speak with teachers, hear from current students, and explore our facilities. You will also learn about our curriculum, pastoral care, and the opportunities we offer students.

We warmly invite you to join us and discover what makes our school a supportive and inspiring place to learn.

Next Events – Thursday 8th October 2026 & Saturday 10th October 2026

Year 6 Transition Days

Each year, Bridlington School holds two Transition Days to help Year 6 pupils experience what life is like at secondary school. These days help students feel more confident about the move from primary school.

All pupils who have been offered a place are invited to attend. This year, the Transition Days will take place on 2nd and 3rd July, and we look forward to welcoming our new students to Bridlington School.
